Just a quick note that we will be starting to wind down the marching season over the next few weeks while preparing for concert band to begin on November 1st. There will still be playoff games and parades throughout November and December, but our focus will shift to region auditions, jazz band, color guard, and the Holiday Concert. Please be sure to read the updates carefully each week and remember they are also posted on the website if you need to go back for a reminder or access a link. Here are the reminders for this week:
- The SCBDA 4A Upper State Championships are this Saturday at Boiling Springs High School. A detailed itinerary is attached. Please note students need to be at school no later than 8:30 am!
- Ticket prices are $10.00 for adults, $6.00 for students, and preschool children are admitted free.
- Please remember, your child may ride home with you after the show, but you must complete a travel waiver and give it to your child’s bus chaperone before you leave. You can download a copy of the travel waiver by clicking HERE. Please read the form carefully so there are no misunderstandings regarding how this process works.
- The fruit sale has started!
- Information about the sale and how to order online is available by clicking HERE. Brochures and order forms are also available in the band room.
- All money and orders are due no later than Friday, November 5th.
- Deposits for the spring band trip were due Friday, October 15th
- The trip is April 8-11 and will include visits to Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens amusement park, and several other historical and educational locations throughout the weekend
- Detailed information is available in the band room or on the website HERE. If you did not get your deposit mailed in, please do so ASAP!
- It is time to start thinking about region band auditions!
- Even though the auditions are not until January 8th, the registration deadline is coming up next month. The registration fee is $12.00, and students can access the registration form HERE. Students must submit this form no later than Monday, November 8th. I strongly encourage students to audition, and auditioning for region band is also a requirement for students interested in becoming section leaders in the marching band.
- If a student is named to the region or all-state bands, it is a great accomplishment to include in college admissions and is often used to select students to attend college honor band clinics!
- Winter Guard Auditions will be November 1-5 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in the band room. We will have more information next week.
