Information for this week includes:
All-State Callback and All-State Jazz Auditions:
The all-state auditions will be held on Saturday, January 21, at Lexington High School. The audition times are now posted in the band room. Students will be responsible for finding their transportation to the auditions as we cannot take a bus. Students will receive directions and more detailed information in class Friday.
Hawaii 2024 Information Meetings:
The second Hawaii information meeting that was canceled last week has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 26, at 7:00 pm in the Northwestern High School Auditorium for those students and parents who could not attend the meeting last night. The presentation will include travel dates, a tentative itinerary, cost, and payment plan. We will also post the information on the website in the next few days and will provide a link to the page in the update next week.
Coffee & Popcorn Fundraiser:
The annual coffee and popcorn fundraiser is under way and runs through Monday, January 30. This is a great way to start raising money for the Hawaii trip, as they are wonderful products that taste great, and just about everyone enjoys popcorn or coffee. Extra order forms are available in the band room if needed.
Band Booster News:
The uniform committee is looking for a couple of hands to help prepare the uniforms for the dry cleaner. There are two dates available. Meet in the band room on Tuesday, January 24, from 4:45-6 or Thursday, January 26, from 4:45-6. If there are enough helpers, we may only need the Tuesday time. No knowledge of uniforms is necessary, just come and have fun. If you have any questions, email Heather King at [email protected].
Be sure to keep some time open on Saturday, February 25, as we will be hosting the WGI Charlotte Regional Championships at Northwestern that day and need volunteers. This is similar to the Olde English Festival of Bands, but instead of the whole band performing, it is just the color guard. There will be 60 groups performing from across the southeast for this show, so we need to be sure we have a strong team of volunteers lined up for the show to run smoothly and to help our guests feel welcome.
Monthly Band Fee Payments:
Remember to make your monthly band fee payment. You can pay with cash, check, or money order, place it in an envelope with your child’s name and the payment, and then have your child drop it by the band office. You can also deduct it from your child’s BCP account by filling out the form HERE. Another option is to pay it electronically directly to the school by clicking HERE.
