Commencement Info & EOY Announcements

Commencement – June 2, 2018 at Winthrop Colliseum

The NHS Bands will perform before and during the commencement exercises for Northwestern High School. Students must be seated in the coliseum by 9:00AM. Students, please use the tunnel entrance on the Cherry Park/Sullivan Middle School side of the arena. Dress for this event is “Sunday Best”. Please allow ample time due to traffic and congestion in the area. Students and families must must provide transportation to and from this event. Students should be ready to be picked up at approximately 11:30AM. Performing at commencement constitutes as the band exam grade for second semester. By now, any potential conflicts should have been worked out with Mr. Yost.

Locker Clean Out

All students are reminded to clean out their instrument storage locker before leaving their exam period band class. School-issued locks must remain on the locker. Any locker with a missing lock will be charged for replacement. Any locker that is found unclean will also be charged a fine.

School Owned Instruments

All school owned concert instruments must be turned back in after commencement or before to the band office. For students returning first semester, you may check out an instrument over the summer for home practice, but you must touch base with Mr. Tinker.

Laptop Collection

Students in 2nd Block Instrumental Ensemble and Concert Band will turn in their laptop, charger, and protective shield during their second block exam time to Mr. Tinker. Students, please remember to backup all of your information – as you may not receive the same device next year and all devices will most likely be re-imaged over the summer break.

Band Method Book Collection

All students will need to turn in all of their band method books during their scheduled exam time. Students with assigned method books that are unreturned will be charged a fine for the replacement cost of the book.

2018 Band Forms

Students enrolled in marching band next year should have already turned in the following forms:

2018 Intent Form

2018 Medical Permission Form

NHS Band Physical Form

At this point, the intent form and medical form are of utmost importance at this time. As long as we have a physical on file by the start of band camp, students will be in compliance. We will be sending out an automated e-mail later today for students who have missing forms. Please take care of these ASAP and contact the band office with any questions or concerns.
