Announcements: Week of 10/26/2022

Wow! What a great show the students performed last week, and what a fantastic season. I can’t tell you how proud we are of this group of students and all they have accomplished over the past three months. It is incredible how far they have come since that first week of pre-camp back in July. We know it might be challenging for some, but we hope everyone can make it to Columbia Saturday morning to see the show. As you may already know, we are the first band to perform, and these kids deserve to have a massive crowd on hand for their performance!

We invite parents, family, and friends to join us at 5:30 pm Thursday for our last rehearsal performance of the show. These will be the last opportunities to view this show live, so I hope you can make it out for as many of these as you can to enjoy what the students have achieved.

Fruit Sale:

The annual fruit sale has started and continues through October. Please be sure to contact family, friends, and coworkers. I get calls every year after we finish the sale asking if we are selling fruit and if it is too late to place an order. People will buy some fruit, but they need to be asked. There are brochures and order forms in the band room the students can pick up or click on the links below to access the information:

Band Pictures

We will take group and individual band pictures next week during the 4th block. The group pictures will be included in the memory book at the end of the year. Individual pictures may be purchased by families. The schedule is:

  • Tuesday, November 1 – Group pictures outside at the track: Students will need to be in full uniform minus hats, gloves, and guantlets. Students will need to have black shoes and socks. Middle School parents I will leave it up to you if you would like to sign your student out of school that day. We will need them dressed and at the track by 2:30.
  • Thursday, November 3 – Individual pictures in uniform as on Tuesday but black shoes and socks will not be needed. The photographer will be here until 4:00 so that should be plenty of time for middle school student to arrive after school.

State Band Send Off…We get to do it again!

It was so nice seeing the send off cheering section last Saturday. In case you missed out on the fun, you get another opportunity to hoot and holler as the buses leave Northwestern. This Saturday, October 29, is the State band competition, and we need everyone to come line Main Street to send our HARD WORKING band kiddos off. Make some posters for everyone, for a section, or just for your loved one. Noise makers are always fun to add to the celebration. It’s such an easy thing to do, and it doesn’t take long. The band students LOVE IT and they DESERVE IT! Arrive by 6:00 am. The buses will roll out at 6:20 am. Go Purple Regiment!!!

Rehearsal Schedule for next week:

  • There are no more after-school rehearsals for marching band.

Students may begin signing up for the region band and all-state jazz ensemble auditions. The links below will take you to an information page with dates, audition requirements, cost, etc as well as a link to the signup forms. Submissions are due no later than Friday, November 4.
