We hope you had a chance to see one of the performances this past weekend. Both were outstanding, and the students were very excited about them even before all the awards were presented. Of course, the awards are a nice reinforcement for a strong performance, but our biggest goal is to continue to strive for an even stronger performance. We think every student will agree that, although the performance Saturday was the best of the year, there are still many things that they can do better to make the show even stronger and more enjoyable. We are very proud of the students’ work over the past twelve weeks and are confident that the rehearsals this week will be the best of the season as we continue to push for a better performance at Upperstate this weekend.

Fruit Sale:
The annual fruit sale has started and continues through October. Please be sure to contact family, friends, and coworkers. I get calls every year after we finish the sale asking if we are selling fruit and if it is too late to place an order. People will buy some fruit, but they need to be asked. There are brochures and order forms in the band room the students can pick up or click on the links below to access the information:

Upper State Band Send Off
This Saturday, October 22, is the Upper State band competition! We need everyone to line Main Street to send our HARD WORKING band kiddos off to this competition as the buses pull away for Boiling Springs. Make some posters for everyone, a section, or just for your loved one (see examples). Noisemakers are always fun to add to the celebration. It’s easy to do, and it doesn’t take long. The band students LOVE IT, and they DESERVE IT! Arrive 15-20 minutes before the departure time on Mr. Yost’s schedule for the day. Go, Purple Regiment!!!

Region and All-State Jazz Audition Sign-ups
Students may begin signing up for the region band and all-state jazz ensemble auditions. The links below will take you to an information page with dates, audition requirements, cost, etc, as well as a link to the signup forms. Submissions are due no later than Friday, November 4.

Monthly Band Fee Payments
Remember to make your monthly band fee payment. You can pay with cash, check, or money order, place it in an envelope with your child’s name and the payment, and then have your child drop it by the band office. You can also deduct it from your child’s BCP account by filling out the form HERE. Another option is to pay it electronically directly to the school by clicking HERE.
