Announcements: Week of 2/16/2022

The next WGI show is at Northwestern on February 26, and volunteer shifts are now available on Charms by clicking here! We need everyone’s help to make this a successful event. Below are some important upcoming dates and announcements. Please plan to attend as many of these events as possible to support our students. They are working hard and deserve an appreciative audience!

Important Dates:

  • Saturday, February 19 at 3:30 pm, Region 3 Honor Band at Nation Ford High School. Admission is free!
  • Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 pm, NHS Pre-Festival Concert in the Northwestern Auditorium. Admission is free!
  • Saturday, March 5 at 9:15 am, NHS at Jazz Performance Assessment at Newberry College. Admission is free!
  • Saturday, March 5, NHS Winterguard in Mooresville. The performance time and admission price will be announced soon.
  • Wednesday, March 16 at 2:30 pm, NHS Symphonic Band Concert Performance Assessment at Nation Ford High School. Admission is free!

Additional announcements:

  • Students traveling with the band to Williamsburg in April should have the following mandatory rehearsal dates in their calendar. You can also find these dates in your second-semester calendar included with your syllabus.
    • March 23, March 30, April 4, April 6. All rehearsals at 3:50-5:00 pm
  • Popcorn and coffee were sent home with students on Monday. The cookie dough fundraiser will start next week!
  • Work assignments for the February 26 WGI Regional Championship are now in Charms. Forty-four schools from across the southeast are scheduled to compete in prelims between 9 am and 4:30 pm, followed by finals from 5:45 to 10:30 pm. We ask that every family sign-up to work at least one volunteer shift!
  • Click HERE to register for Solo & Ensemble. This link will remain active through Friday. Solos are $20.00, and ensembles are $4.00 per person and can be paid with BCP, check, or cash. Students are limited to 2 events.
  • Be sure to check canvas regularly to ensure you are up to date with all assignments.
  • Please remember the FINAL trip payment for the spring trip was due on February 15. Send your payment directly to Stamm Travel with your payment sheet!
    • If you wish to pay using BCPs, please complete the BCP authorization form to transfer your payment. We will send one check to cover all BCP payments each month.
    • There is still room for additional travelers (including parents!) who are welcome to travel as tag-along. Please get in touch with Mr. Yost if you would like to join us on the trip and haven’t signed up yet.

Summer rehearsals begin Tuesday, July 8 from 9am-12pm, and we couldn’t be more excited to get started! To help prepare us all for the season ahead, we want to introduce you to our incredible instructional staff who make it all possible.

🎚 SOUND ENGINEER: Brandon Usher
Mr. Usher is our sound engineer, working behind the scenes to ensure every solo, ensemble, and impactful moment on the field is heard clearly and powerfully. His expertise helps bring our show to life in the stands and makes sure every detail shines. We’re lucky to have his talents shaping the sound of our season!
