Announcements – Week of 2/9/2022

Below are some important upcoming dates and announcements. Please plan to attend as many of these events as possible to support our students. They are working hard and deserve an appreciative audience!

Important Dates:

  • Saturday, February 19 at 3:30 pm, Region 3 Honor Band at Nation Ford High School. Admission is free!
  • Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 pm, NHS Pre-Festival Concert in the Northwestern Auditorium. Both concert band and symphonic band will perform. Admission is free!
  • Saturday, March 5 at 9:15 am, NHS at Jazz Performance Assessment at Newberry College. Admission is free!
  • Saturday, March 5, NHS Winterguard in Mooresville. The performance time and admission price will be announced soon.
  • Wednesday, March 16 at 2:30 pm, NHS Symphonic Band Concert Performance Assessment at Nation Ford High School. Admission is free!

Additional announcements:

  • Congratulations to senior French Hornist Derek Thompson on his 3rd place finish at the state Master Recital Competition held this past Saturday in Columbia! Derek was one of 12 finalists selected from recordings submitted by students from across the state earlier this year. Each finalist performed a prepared work for a live audience and a panel of collegiate music professors who selected the top three performers.
  • The Winterguard performance this weekend at Chapin High School has been canceled. The guard will rehearse at school all day Saturday instead.
  • Work assignments for the February 26th WGI Regional Championship will be posted in Charms this Friday. There are 44 schools from across the southeast scheduled to compete in prelims between 9 am and 4:30 pm, followed by finals from 5:45 to 10:30 pm. We ask that every family sign up to work at least one volunteer shift!
  • Click HERE to register for Solo & Ensemble. Solos are $20.00 and ensembles are $4.00 per person and can be paid with BCP, check, or cash. Students are limited to 2 events.
  • Coffee and popcorn will be available for students to pick up in class on Monday!
  • Please be sure to check canvas regularly for assignments and reminders!
  • Please remember the FINAL trip payment for the spring trip is due next Tuesday, February 15th. Send your payment directly to Stamm Travel with your payment sheet!
    • If you wish to pay using BCPs, please complete the BCP authorization form so we can transfer your payment. We will send one check to cover all BCP payments each month.
    • There still is room for some additional travelers (including parents!) who are welcome to travel as tag-along. Please contact Mr. Yost if you would like to join us on the trip and haven’t signed up yet.

Over the past few days, you’ve gotten to know the incredible team of educators who will lead us through the 2025 season. From our talented guard and percussion staff to our amazing middle school directors and high school team, we’re surrounded by people who truly care about helping our students grow and shine.

Now it’s almost time to get started—summer rehearsals kick off Tuesday, July 8 from 9am-12pm and we can’t wait to see everyone back on the field, building memories and chasing something special together.

Summer rehearsals begin Tuesday, July 8 from 9am-12pm, and we couldn’t be more excited to get started! To help prepare us all for the season ahead, we want to introduce you to our incredible instructional staff who make it all possible.

🎚 SOUND ENGINEER: Brandon Usher
Mr. Usher is our sound engineer, working behind the scenes to ensure every solo, ensemble, and impactful moment on the field is heard clearly and powerfully. His expertise helps bring our show to life in the stands and makes sure every detail shines. We’re lucky to have his talents shaping the sound of our season!
