Announcements: Week of 2/2/2022

Parents & Students,

Happy Groundhog Day! Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning, which unfortunately means we have six more weeks of winter. Hopefully, that won’t impact the Winter Guard International Southeastern Championship we will host on February 26. We couldn’t have the show last weekend to better prepare us for the 26th, but I am confident we will be able to run this show smoothly and efficiently. We will post work assignments in Charms next week, similar to what we had planned for last Saturday. Every student and parent needs to sign up for at least one shift for this event to be a success!

Additional announcements and reminders for this week include:

  • Congratulations to the following Northwestern High School Band members for their selection to the SCBDA All-State and Region Three Honor Bands. These students participated in auditions with students from around the state to earn a seat in these distinguished ensembles.
    • SCBDA All-State Band Members:
      • Derek Thompson, senior horn
      • Kaelin King, sophomore clarinet
    •  Students selected to the SCBDA Region Three Honor Band include:

      • Isaac Crane, freshman trumpet
      • Jordan Johnson, sophomore trumpet

    • We are very proud of these students and their accomplishments and all the students who took the time to practice and audition for these ensembles. Your dedication and desire to improve are reflected in every task you undertake. Keep up the great work!!
  • Our next band parent meeting will be this coming Monday, February 7, at 7:00 pm. Click here to join on zoom.
  • Thank you to those who participated in the coffee and popcorn sale. Please look for a notice in the update next week for the delivery date of the items.
  • Please be sure to check canvas regularly for assignments and reminders!
  • Please remember the FINAL trip payment for the spring trip is due on February 15. Send your payment directly to Stamm Travel with your payment sheet!
    • If you wish to pay using BCPs, please indicate this on the payment form you send to Stamm, and complete the BCP authorization form to transfer your payment. We will send one check to cover all BCP payments each month.
    • There is still room for additional travelers (including parents!) who are welcome to travel as tag-alongs. Please get in touch with Mr. Yost if you would like to join us on the trip and haven’t signed up yet.

Please be sure to contact us if you have any questions or concerns, and thank you again for all you do for our program!

Really sad to miss this big event but have two other grand dudes in their band concert at Dutchman Creek Middle School—same exact time.

Can't wait!
