Announcements: Week of 11/17/2021

We have had a smooth transition into concert band so far, and we are looking forward to our next concert on December 9! Before our concert, we do still have the potential for more football games, including next Friday, November 26. If we win this Friday, there will be a game the day after Thanksgiving. I do not expect anyone to change their travel plans, but we need all students in town to be in attendance for that game. Our routine absence procedures will be in place for that game. We will share more information next week if we do have a game on the 26th.

Additional announcements and reminders include:

  • Football game Friday night at D3 Stadium.
    • The call time is 6:30 pm.
    • We will be in full uniform for pregame and halftime but will change into jeans and purple band jackets after halftime.
    • Please see the GAME AGENDA for more detailed information
  • The marching band will perform at all home playoff games. These performances are mandatory for all winds and percussion. If you have a conflict, please contact the band office. All unexcused absences will result in a “0” grade for that performance.
  • Please be sure the following dates are on your calendars:
    • Friday, December 3 – Rock Hill Christmas Parade: mandatory attendance for all students
    • Saturday, December 4 – Fruit Delivery: mandatory attendance for all students who sold fruit
    • Monday, December 6 – Booster meeting
    • Thursday, December 9 – Holiday Concert: mandatory attendance for all students except colorguard
  • Proofs of the individual band pictures can be viewed by clicking HERE. Instructions on how to order are also on the site. The deadline to order is November 30. The company is also mailing proof sheets to the school, which will be distributed to the students as soon as they arrive.
  • We are currently accepting applications from 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students who wish to be nominated for the USC Honor Band Clinic in February. Information and submission forms are attached and are available in the band room.
  • If you are registered for region band auditions but have not yet paid the $12.00 registration fee, please do so ASAP.
  • Please remember the 2nd payment for the spring trip was due on November 15. Please be sure to send your payment directly to Stamm Travel with the payment information flyer!
    • If you wish to pay using BCPs, please indicate this on the payment form you send to Stamm, and complete the BCP authorization form to transfer your payment. We will send one check to cover all BCP payments each month.
  • We still have spots left for this trip if you have not yet signed up!
    • The trip is April 8-11 and will include visits to Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, and several other historical and educational locations throughout the weekend. Payment information, as well as detailed information about the trip, is available in the band room or on the website HERE

We are now just over halfway through the semester, so please ensure that you are caught up with your assignments posted in Canvas. The assignments aren’t difficult, but they require a few minutes of focused practice to ensure high-quality performance. As always, please be sure to contact us if you have any questions or concerns, and I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!
