Announcements: Week of 6/15/2021

Parents & Students,

We now have less than a week to go, so keep pushing all the way to the end and finish strong! Here are a few things to keep in mind as we wrap up this school year and head into our summer break:

  • Congratulations to Melah Hoff and Olivia Dannelly selected to be the 2021 Purple Regiment Drum Majors!
  • If you didn’t get your marching band registration form submitted last week, please click HERE or scan the QR code found on the yellow page in the mailing and submit the form today. Please be sure to contact Mr. Yost as soon as possible if you did not receive the mailing, and we will make sure one is sent home with your student this week.
  • There will be a MANDATORY meeting for all 2021/22 Band Council members after school on Tuesday, June 22nd. This is a half-day, and it should take only 15 to 20 minutes. Please be sure to put this on your calendar if you are applying for a leadership position.
  • Marching Band Fees from this past fall should be paid as soon as possible. If you have questions, please contact the band office.
  • Missing assignments must be submitted no later than Sunday, June 20th. Students will also be allowed to re-submit any assignments they would like to redo for a higher grade through Sunday as well.
  • Exams are next Monday for Symphonic Band Students and Tuesday for Concert Band and Instrumental Ensemble students. Students have a choice of playing scales or taking a music theory test in Canvas.
  • Date changes and additions for next year:
    • The date of the South Pointe game has been moved to Saturday, August 21st, and will be a 7:00 pm kickoff.
    • The Mattress Sale date will be Saturday, August 28th, in the band room. Our goal is to have at least one referral from each family stop by and check out the quality and price of the mattresses offered. If we can do that, I feel confident we can raise over $10,000.00 for the booster club that day. Please see the attached information sheet for more information.

Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their patience, understanding, and support over this past year. It has been a huge challenge for all of us, but I also know it was made easier being surrounded by so many wonderful individuals and families. I hope all of you have a safe and enjoyable summer break and, if any questions or concerns arise over the summer, you can reach us through email at the addresses listed below or call the band room and leave a message. We will return your call as soon as possible.

Really sad to miss this big event but have two other grand dudes in their band concert at Dutchman Creek Middle School—same exact time.

Can't wait!
