Announcements – Week of 3/24

It has been a pleasure to see all of our students together again this week! I hope they have enjoyed the sound of a complete ensemble as much as I have. Students still need to remain diligent about their masks and bell covers in band class to protect themselves and those around them.

Here are a few announcements and reminders for the week:

  • For students interested in pursuing a LEADERSHIP POSITION in Marching Band next fall, we highly recommend that you attend this webinar on April 14 at 7:00 pm, hosted by Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser!
  • Our April Band Parent/Booster meeting is Monday, March 29 at 7 pm. You can access the meeting here or from the Charms calendar.
  • We are still looking for parents who are interested in serving on the executive board next year. If you would like to serve as vice president, treasurer, or secretary, please contact Mr. Tucker as soon as possible. His email address is [email protected].
  • The annual Cookie Dough Sale has started and will continue through Tuesday, March 30. The order form and payment should be given to Mr. Yost in an envelope with the student’s name and “Cookie Dough Sale” visible to ensure it goes to the proper place. Brochures, order forms, and instruction sheets have been distributed to the students and uploaded to the Purple Regiment website. Be sure to check the information sheets if you have questions about how the online sale works or to whom checks should be made payable. I hope everyone takes advantage of this outstanding opportunity!
  • We will record both large ensembles next week for the SCBDA Concert Performance Assessments. Solos and small ensembles will record for the SCBDA Solo & Ensemble assessment on April 14 and 15, after spring break.
  • We need water for the color guard to use over the next six weeks to continue through their season. If you could pick up a 12 pack of water the next time you are shopping and then have your child bring it to the band room, we will have more than enough for the rest of the season.
  • For those students missing assignments, please remember the deadline to submit missing assignments is Friday, April 16. As I mentioned above, each ensemble’s overall sound is quite strong, but as I look at the individual grades, I see many that aren’t high as they should be due to missing assignments. Students and parents can log in to Canvas to see grades and see if any assignments are missing. Likewise, if a student did poorly on an assignment and feels they can do better, please contact the teacher for the class, and we can reassign the work.

As always, please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. Our email addresses are listed below, or you can call the band room and leave a message. Thank you again for all you do to help our kids!

Really sad to miss this big event but have two other grand dudes in their band concert at Dutchman Creek Middle School—same exact time.

Can't wait!
