Christmasville 2019 Parade Information

The NHS Band will participate in the Rock Hill Christmasville Parade this Friday, December 6, 2019. Below are the key details for this event:

  • Call Time for Students is 5:30 PM. This is a mandatory performance for all members.
  • Please arrive in full uniform (without helmets). Students will need to take their uniform home this week after-school and return it to school on Monday.
  • The parade starts at Winthrop (Oakland Ave.) and ends at Fountain Park. Please arrange transportation accordingly!

Assembly for Parade

The grassy lawn/parking lot of the Dinkins Center at Winthrop on Oakland will be used. This is across the street from the Tillman Clocktower building.

Parade Route

It begins at Oakland Ave. and Stewart Ave. (in front of Winthrop), proceeds down Oakland, turns right onto White Street, left through the parking lot next to Wells Fargo, left onto Main St. and up Main St., ending at Fountain Park between Elizabeth Ln. and Saluda St. The parade route will close starting at 5:45 pm. Click here for a map of the parade route.

Disbanding

The disbanding area for the bands is on Elizabeth Ave. between Main St. and Black St. This is directly between Fountain Park and the Comporium building.

General Traffic

Traffic will be slow around the assembly area. Oakland Ave. at Cherry Rd. (towards downtown) will be closed to all traffic at 2 pm with the exception of floats and vehicles that will actually be part of the parade.  Students/parents should use Charlotte Ave. to access the Dinkins area, but they need to allow plenty of additional time.

Street Closures

  • Road closures during and following the parade:
  • Elizabeth Lane between White and Black Streets
  • Main St. between Elizabeth Ln. and Confederate Ave.
  • Reid St. between White and Main Streets
  • Orange Street between Main and Black Streets
  • On-street parking along the parade route and disbanding areas will be unavailable on Friday.
