We are writing this afternoon to inform you of our acceptance of the resignation of Mr. Kyle Merck, Director of Percussion Studies at Northwestern High School. Mr. Merck has served the Northwestern Bands faithfully and admirably since assuming his current role with us in the Fall of 2012. Prior to 2012, Mr. Merck served on staff with the Purple Regiment, working closely with his former teacher and mentor, Bill Stowe.
Mr. Merck will leave Northwestern High School to serve as an officer with the York County Sheriff’s Office starting in January of 2019. Mr. Merck will continue working with our program for the duration of the semester before starting training with the Sheriff’s office.
We would like to publicly thank Mr. Merck for his unyielding dedication to our band program. His leadership, work ethic, and commitment to our students will certainly be missed! The NHS Bands have been working closely with our administration and personnel department of Rock Hill Schools to find a new candidate for this position. More information will be made available as future arrangements are finalized.
