FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NHS BAND RESULTS FROM SOLO & ENSEMBLE AND OPA #27

This past weekend 50 students from the Northwestern High School Band participated in the South Carolina Band Directors Association’s Solo and Ensemble Performance Assessment. A total of 45 students in 35 different performances earned the highest possible rating of Superior. Of the 45 students earning superior ratings, twelve of them participated in two superior performances. Four students, Amariana Gaston, Josylyn Maietta, Carlyle McDowell, and Alexa Valite, earned superior ratings in three performances.

The results of this weekend also qualified the Northwestern Bands to receive the South Carolina Band Directors Association’s Outstanding Performance Award for the 27th consecutive year. The SCBDA presents this award to band programs that excel in every aspect of instrumental music education, including marching band, concert band, jazz band, color guard, as well as individual student achievements for Region Band, All-State Band, and Solo and Ensemble Festival. Congratulations to all students who performed at the Solo & Ensemble event this past weekend and to all who helped distinguish our band program as one of the finest in the state.
